It's my birthday tomorrow, but I don't think any one will remember except me! Mum's still ill, Dad wants to call mayday and get some help, she says no, that would be giving in and she doesn't want to give in! The weather is calm. That will help Mum she can sleep peacefully without being smashed into the cabins sides.
Stella's barking, shes at the bow, she seems to be barking at a voice in the darkness, at a voice it seems only the two of us could hear. I noticed with horor she hasn't got her harness clipped on, I've got this awful feeling she's going to fall out of the boat again.

Day 70
Whoo hoo! I am soooo loving this! You won't believe where I am. Can you guess? Can you imagine where I am Mr Dodds? BRAZIL! I am actually in Brazil. We are in Recife, apparently my brazilian friend Louisa tells me, it's the fourth largest city in Brazil.
We are now docked in Rio De Janeiro. Barefoot football on the beach with Brazilian kids, an enormous football stadium (Maraca) and a huge statue of Christ the redeemer. Its massive, stood ontop of a mountain above Corcovado. The clouds are actually beneath it! How on earth did they get it up there. It's like its on top of the world! Its a busy, noisy, smelly city compared to the open ocean. The beaches are amazing!
We are leaving Brazil now. It has been great, I will really miss it and the football. Making new friends has been good, but they will never replace Eddie. Long haul next. Africa. I am so excited, this beats school any day of the week!

Day 55
Bay of Biscay
This was one of the main times so far I regret having to live on a boat. 25 foot waves smashed into the bow of the Peggy Sue. Everything is trashed. This morning the door got wedged open and water poured in. Everything is soaking, food, clothes, furniture and all our electrical stuff! What a nightmare! I spent 3 hours chucking buckets of water out of the boat, Stella constantly barking her approval!
The walls of water were huge. You couldn't see any land, just mountains of green water. One after another, relentless. We got tired and snappy. Arguments about chess for mum and dad were forgotten. We worked hard. By the time we left the Bay of Biscay we were all pooped!
We spent two days relaxing in the sun to refresh ourselves.
I'm tired now, lazing in the sun can do that to you. Talk to you again soon.

Day 45 (20th September)
I haven't written in the diary for ages. Barnacle Bill has been nagging me and giving me pointless errands. It's hard to explain how I feel. I am scared (We are on our own now afterall), excited (This is so cool and no school!) and relieved that there is no more Barnacle Bill training.
Awww! Mum and Dad have remembered school work. So I have to record a journal and write in the things we experience. I really miss messing around with Eddie and the Mudlarks. I wonder what he is doing now? Stella is playing with my lucky ball from Eddie. It rolls from one side of the boat to the other, Stella Artois not far behind, chasing.
Talk to you later. My duty, at the helm, calls.

Day 2
Right then. Learning with Barnacle Bill it is. Seems like quite a weathered fellow to me, I'm sure he'll be lovely.
Oh my god, how wrong can you be? He is such a slave driver. He works all of us nearly to the bone and seems to have real disdain towards children and animals on board. 'They're a liability' he mutters a lot. Stella and I just keep out of his way most of the time! Dad too actually. We don't mind I mean it might save our lives all this learning - you never know what will! So we work (hard) and wink at each other when Old Barnacle isn't looking.
He keeps warning us about how bad it can be out at sea and the boat is hard, it's much bigger than our little dinghy. The next time I talk to you I'll, we'll all be intrepid explorers!

Diary of Kensuke's Kingdom
Day 1
I can't believe that Mum and Dad are actually going to do this. It is sheer madness! I am giddy with delight! Not only do I miss school but they are going to be so busy with the boat I'm bound to get away with doing virtually nothing. Stella, my amazing one ear up one ear down dog, is begging me to take her for a swim. So I'd better go. See you all later!
